Penrith beat Canberra 30 to 18 at GIO Stadium, leading 18 to 12 at halftime and never letting the margin slip below 2 points after the break. Blaize Talagi opened the scoring in the 5th minute and finished with two tries himself as the Panthers pulled clear late through Billy Phillips.
