Who we are
Edge is an independent analytics website for NRL Fantasy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Edge is not associated with or endorsed by the NRL or NRL Fantasy.
Information we collect
We collect the following information when you use Edge.
- Account details. When you create an account, we collect your email address. Signing in uses a one time code sent to that address, so we never see or store a password.
- Your linked team. If you sync your NRL Fantasy team, we store which team you selected. If you also connect your team to verify ownership, we store the team data you paste, such as your lineup, team value and trades remaining. Names and email addresses inside that data are removed before it is saved. We never ask for your NRL Fantasy password.
- Usage information. We record the pages you view, the searches you run and the features you use, along with a randomly generated visitor id stored in your browser, your device type, the website you arrived from, and your approximate location (country, state and city) derived from your network address.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It sets its own cookies and sends Google the pages you view, your device and browser details, the website you arrived from, and an approximate location derived from your network address. We do not send Google your email address, your account details or your linked team. How Google handles this information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google advertising features. We have Google signals turned on. If you are signed in to a Google account and have allowed Ads Personalization on that account, Google may connect your visit here with that account and with your activity on other devices. This gives us reports on the age, gender and interests of our audience as a whole, and lets us reach people like our existing readers if we advertise in future. We only ever see these reports in aggregate, never information about you as an individual.
- Public NRL Fantasy data. The site displays team names, ranks and scores from the public NRL Fantasy competition. This comes from the game itself, not from your use of Edge.
How we use your information
We use this information to do the following.
- Run the site and personalise it, such as showing your synced team on the homepage and your team page.
- Understand how the site is used in aggregate so we can improve it.
- Find and fix problems.
- Send you sign in codes. We do not send marketing emails.
Cookies and local storage
Edge uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember the team you selected. We also store a random visitor id and session id in your browser for the usage analytics described above.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies to recognise repeat visits and group them into sessions. Because Google advertising features are turned on, some of these are advertising cookies. We do not show ads on Edge and we do not run third party ad networks here.
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you do, you may need to sign in or select your team again.
You have several ways to opt out. To stop Google Analytics on every site you visit, install the Google Analytics opt out browser add on. To control how Google personalises ads for your account, or to turn Ads Personalization off entirely, use Google Ad Settings. To review or delete the activity Google holds against your account, use My Activity.
Where your information is stored
Account and team information is stored in our database hosted in Sydney, Australia. The site runs on hosting, content delivery and caching providers that may process some data outside Australia as part of serving the site.
Access to stored information is restricted to the operator of the site.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. It is handled by the infrastructure providers that run the site and by Google as described above, and may be disclosed where the law requires it.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Send the request through the support form. Deleting your account removes your profile, your linked team and any team data you submitted.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, raise it with us first through the support form and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
