Canberra Raiders vs Brisbane Broncos - Round 25, 2026
The result
Canberra led 18 to 16 at halftime but the Broncos ran them down at GIO Stadium, winning 34 to 30 after Hayze Perham crossed in the 74th minute. Brisbane's Billy Walters had opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and the Raiders never got the margin back beyond 2 points once Brisbane hit the front.
How it unfolded
The Raiders held 55 percent of possession to the Broncos' 45 percent and completed at 86 percent against Brisbane's 81 percent, control that never quite showed up on the scoreboard. Canberra also ran for more metres and threw more offloads, while Brisbane conceded more penalties and made more errors.
Against projection
Ata Mariota ran in 25 points above his projection with a 68 to Canberra's card, and Ezra Mam's try helped him settle right on his own number at 35. At the other end, Daine Laurie fell 26 short of his projection with 13 from 18 minutes off the bench, and Tom Starling managed just 9 against a projection of 32 in his own short stint. Josh Papalii was held to 40 minutes despite starting, finishing with 33.
Ownership outcome
Payne Haas, the most owned player in the game at 37.6 percent and captained by 8.2 percent, delivered 82 points to reward the crowd on him. Further down the ownership table, Simi Sasagi's 64 points from 8.9 percent ownership went largely unnoticed by the field.
